numptie
I've been stupid: staying in situations for the wrong reasons; doing things that make me miserable, rather than doing the courageous thing and facing the truth; letting loyalty and greed dictate to me against my better judgement; letting foolish optimism blind me to grey reality.
Ahh. That was cathartic...

Oh, I keep meaning to ask about "numptie" aka "numpty". I'd never come across it until I saw it on your blog - where it jumped out a bit. Then I came across it somewhere else (in print i think, but can't remember where). But that was from someone in Reading, i think. What is it, some westcountry thing?

Hello, R.
re: 'numptie/numpty' - etymology obscure (as far as I'm concerned). I first heard it in a pub in London in 1986 (?) It was spoken by a man of Kent. There was a lovely woman there who I liked, but who I ignored because I blew my top about some trivial old crap and got the hump. Pillock.
re: "loyalty and greed". Yes...life's complicated, ain't it - mixed motives, confused intent, ugly compromises illogically reconciled. Pragmatism for goalposts, isn't it, hmmm?
Elaboration: work, work, work. I'll tell you about it in the pub. I'll be there about 830 (pm).

Oh yes, we had to make our own neuroses in those days, you know...
Heh heh.
Talking of neuroses...when you come home from work four days on the trot thinking "what's the fucking point?", there has to be something wrong, doesn't there?
Jesus...
there has to be something wrong, doesn't there?
Yes. *musters analytical powers* I think it's the job.
Perhaps you should give it the sack. (I should put a disclaimer in at this point, really...)

mmm...it's not really rocket science, is it? :-)
I did compose my resignation letter on the drive home today. it was a cracker. i tore it up (mentally) when i got in. wuss.
it's great how i'm not posting any more, isn't it?
...yeah, your other unbreakable resolution is a porsche...
However: if posting is part of your job, STOP POSTING NOW.
You know, you could do your resignation letter in epiphanic photos... ;-)
