three moments that seem to expand to fill a 'consciousness time' far longer than their actual duration:
- the moment between being aware that you're treading on a snail and your boot sole being flat against the ground
- the moment between the realisation that you're going to hit the car in front and the actual collision
- the moment between hitting the 'send' button and realising that you've accidentally 'replied to all'
